The Applied mini Olympics
A smaller version but with the same level of ambition for a really great cause
To celebrate our 25th anniversary, and to coincide with the Paris Olympics, we’re organising our own mini Olympic Games to raise money for a very good local cause, Kirkwood Hospice, which does invaluable work supporting patients and their families at a very challenging moment in their lives.
We all have our various sporting interests that we’ll be pursuing over the duration of the ‘other’ Games - golf, swimming, running, boxing, climbing and cycling - and, apart from raising money for our local charity, It’s a great opportunity for all of us to get outside and get active.
Here’s how it works.
We’ve each given ourselves a target to achieve, depending on our chosen area of activity. Because we’ve nearly all chosen different disciplines, they’re not all directly comparable.
So the competition is against ourselves, not each other and the idea is that we try to be as active as possible for the 19 days duration of the Paris Olympics.
Ultimately, this is about having a bit of fun for a very good cause, so any support you can give us will go towards our friends at Kirkwood Hospice.
We’ll be posting regular updates of our progress, so you’ll be able to see us in action. As they say, seeing is believing and this is a great way for us to do something active to mark 25 years in a profession which tends to involve being quite sedentary.
